The Event

What is BattleBots?

Event: A BattleBots competition hosted by the FTC AG (Robotics Club).

Idea: Design, build, and control your own combat robot to compete against others.

Goal: Learn new skills + have fun + win the competition!

Weight Class

Ultra-Lightweight: Maximum 150g

Victory Conditions

  • Destroy your opponent
  • Push your opponent off the platform

The Kit (Provided)

Each team receives a standardized kit containing:

  • 2x Motors for drive system
  • ESP32 Microcontroller — the "brain" of your robot
  • ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)
  • LiPo Battery for power
  • Weapon materials & chassis components

Each team gets a dedicated coach/expert from the FTC AG

The Base

We provide a standard base platform that every team must assemble first

Duration

6-week intensive build phase

Competition Timeline

Kickoff (Thursday before holidays)

  • Team formation
  • Brainstorming session
  • Weapon type selection (Spinner, Flipper, Wedge, etc.)

Week 1: Foundation

  • Assemble the standard base
  • Wire the motors
  • Basic functionality tests

Weeks 2–4: Weapon Design & Build

  • Design your custom weapon
  • Assembly and integration
  • First functionality tests

Weeks 5–6: Final Tuning

  • Weight management (stay under 150g!)
  • Driving practice
  • Combat strategy development
